Colombia times 3

We just brought in three coffees from Colombia—and no, they’re not just slightly different takes on “smooth and chocolatey.” These are proper flavour bombs. From candy-sweet naturals to floral washed Geishas, each one punches way above average.

They all landed in Calgary fresh from our friends at JA Coffee—a Montreal-based importer who somehow keeps finding coffees that make us rethink what Colombian lots can do. And yeah, they delivered again.

Let’s talk about what just hit the bar.

1. Pink Bourbon Natural

Origin: Quindío, Colombia
Processing: Natural
Variety: Pink Bourbon
Tasting Notes: Jolly Rancher Candy, Lemon Zest, Juicy Sweet, Smooth Mouthfeel, Medium Creamy Body
Roast Level: Medium

This Pink Bourbon is all natural (literally), and tastes like someone turned citrus candy into a balanced, drinkable filter coffee. It’s sweet, bright, and smooth all at once.

You’ll notice a creamy texture and juicy sweetness that gives big Jolly Rancher energy—but without any artificial aftertaste. The lemon zest note keeps it zippy, and the finish is clean, not sticky or syrupy.

If you think fruit-forward coffees have to be sharp or over-the-top, this one will prove you wrong. It’s fun and approachable.

2. Finca El Paraíso – Natural

Producer: Diego Bermúdez, Cauca
Processing: Natural
Variety: Castillo
Tasting Notes: Fruit Bomb, Floral Aroma, Grapefruit, Lime, Bright Pleasant Acidity, Round Body, Smooth Finish
Roast Level: Medium

This coffee hits fast with citrus and florals, then mellows into a smooth, balanced finish that sticks the landing.

You’ll smell flowers the moment you grind it. Then the grapefruit and lime roll in, bringing a bright, crisp acidity that keeps everything refreshing. It’s loud but clean, bold but not overwhelming.

What makes this one extra cool: it’s part of a collaborative project between Diego Bermúdez and a network of small farmers in Cauca. They all bring their cherries to Diego’s team for processing. Think of it like a really good band, not a solo act—everyone playing tight, no one hogging the spotlight.

3. Colombia Huila Geisha

Region: Finca La Villa, Huila
Altitude: 1720–1960m
Processing: Washed, Greenhouse-Dried
Variety: Geisha
Tasting Notes: Coffee Blossom, Hibiscus Aroma, Light Body, Juicy Green Tea
Roast Level: Medium

This one is for the floral coffee lovers. And for the people who drink tea and say “I don’t usually like coffee” but suddenly stop mid-sip.

The Huila Geisha is elegant. It’s light, delicate, and all about florals—coffee blossom on the nose, hibiscus up front, then a soft, green-tea-like finish that lingers just long enough to make you wonder how something this subtle can be so interesting.

We roast it medium to keep those high notes intact. If you’re into soft acidity, silky texture, and zero bitterness—this is the one.

Why We Brought These In

Colombia’s always been on our radar—but right now, it’s on fire. Producers are experimenting with processing, exploring new varieties, and hitting flavour notes that go way beyond the expected.

We brought these three in from JA Coffee because each one tells a different story. Together, they show just how wide the flavour range can be from a single origin.

Whether you're just getting into specialty coffee or you've been around long enough to argue about water temperature, these coffees are a good reminder that there’s still plenty left to get excited about.

We roast them fresh in Calgary, in tiny batches. They’re available now—whole bean or ground. Online or in-shop.

Come grab one. Or three. They won’t be around forever.
