Why Your Neighbour Just Dumped That Popular Coffee Chain
(And Started Buying Local Coffee Like It’s 2004 Again)
Lately, we’ve had a lot of new faces coming through the door. We can spot them right away. They don’t say hi or ask for a latte: they stop mid-step, inhale deeply, and go: “Mmm, it smells amazing in here.”
That’s usually the start of a long conversation about coffee beans. We talk through their preferences, maybe introduce them to something they’ve never tried before, and send them home with a bag of something we roasted that morning.
It’s been a refreshing shift—more people genuinely curious about what they’re drinking, and more conversations that go beyond “what’s your strongest coffee?”

The Lineup Changes, Just Like the Seasons
Coffee, like fruit, isn’t static. It changes with the harvest cycle. Think apples in the fall, strawberries in early summer. Same with beans, different countries harvest at different times, and what’s on shelf right now won’t be in three months.
That’s why our offerings are always rotating. We get beans from all over the world, talking to farmers, checking out processing styles, and making sure we’re getting the best option possible before we roast it in small batches, right here in Calgary.

We usually have over 50 kinds of coffee on rotation throughout the year. But what’s on offer this week? Depends on what’s tasting best.
Right now, some standouts include:
- Brazil São Luiz Estate – Chocolatey, round-bodied, and smooth. An easy favourite.
- Colombia Huila Geisha – Delicate, floral, sweet. A real treat when it’s in season.
- Kenya Sondhi – Bright and juicy with citrus and currant. Complex - your new favourite coffee.
- Papua New Guinea – Earthy, slightly spicy, and deeply comforting.
And of course, we keep house favourites stocked year-round—like the Danish Breakfast Blend, our classic Italian Espresso (which isn’t just for espresso machines), and the bold, chicory-kissed New Orleans – louisiana style coffee.

Real Joy of the Neighbourhood Coffee Spot
Let’s be honest, it’s just nicer when your barista knows what you drink before you say a word. When they hand over your cup and go, “The usual, right?” That little moment feels good in a way no app order ever will.
Supporting a local shop also means you get to see familiar faces, wave to your neighbours, say hi to every dog in the neighbourhood. Catch up with someone you haven’t seen in a while. And when you grab your beans from a spot that roasts right in your city, you're helping that whole scene stay alive.
